Most of the time, we cannot checkmate our opponent and we have to find some other ideas. In this position, White has a material advantage of 5 points (an extra rook). Apart from the Rook, both sides have the same material (3 pawns and a Bishop each). An experienced player would find this game so easy to win that his opponent would probably resign. However, there is a lot of work to be done before White can hope to checkmate Black. |
