Good. Although Black does not have to move up the board yet, we have at least made sure that he cannot move down! It won't be long before he will be moving closer to one of the edges.

N.B. Although we have, for the moment, decided to push Black to the top of the board, we don't really mind which edge we get him on - the chess board is a square and all the edges are the same.

A time might come in this ending when we change our mind because Black's moves make it easier to mate him somewhere else.
